After Hurricane Maria, Steel Services & Supplies, a major supplier of construction materials in Puerto Rico, had extensive damage at its facility in Toa Baja. Wind blew off metal roof panels and siding, and the wind and saltwater that got in corroded much of the stored inventory.
The wooden office building had to be torn down, and the facility’s main solar power system was damaged. The insurer offered $387,000. Our team worked with engineers, accountants and other consultants to push for a full recovery, and the claim settled for about $1 million.
