The contractor's edge

Arthur Camayd, partner, is a licensed public adjuster with the SPPA designation, a licensed general contractor, and holds a degree in architecture.

We know how buildings are designed, how they are built, and how to spot the damage most people miss. On complex claims like fires with structural damage or hidden issues, that construction insight and policy knowledge lets us build a stronger claim and challenge a low offer with real authority.

What to know about a California insurance claim

Waiting to see what the insurance company does is how good claims run out of time.

Call us first

The clock starts before you call

In California, the time to sue can start when the damage could have been noticed, not when you finally report it. It pauses only while the insurer decides a reported claim, then runs again. Call us the day you find the damage, and we’ll help you report it the right way.

Don't wait on them

Asking them to reconsider doesn't stop the clock

After a written denial, more letters and more phone calls don’t pause your deadline. We’ll build the proof against the denial while there’s still time. Call us before you send them one more letter.

Don't settle for less

The first check is rarely the whole payment

California rules bar unreasonably low offers and require repairs that match across the damaged area. Money held back for depreciation has to be claimed in time, too. Have us check their estimate line by line before you accept it.

Call us before you call your insurance company.

Don’t wait to see what they do. Call today and let a licensed public adjuster review your options while you still have them. Your policy review is free.

After a wildfire: the mistakes that cost money

Fire and smoke claims after a declared disaster come with their own rules, and their own ways to get underpaid.

Taking the contents advance as the final number. It’s a floor, not a settlement.

Letting living expense money end early. After a declared disaster, California law sets a longer minimum time.

Accepting a smoke “wipe-down.” Smoke gets into walls, ducts and insulation.

Leaving coverage unclaimed. After a declared disaster, you may be able to combine coverage limits to rebuild.

We find the damage their estimate leaves out and claim every coverage you have. Call us for a free claim review.

Questions about hiring a public adjuster in California

Answers to the questions California callers ask us most.

How much does a public adjuster charge?

You pay nothing upfront, and if we don't recover money, you owe us nothing. Our fee is a percentage of what we recover for you, set in writing before you sign, and never more than your state's law allows. Call, and we'll walk you through how it works on your claim.

Do you handle claims in California? Will someone come to my property?

Yes. Our public adjusters are licensed in California, and we handle claims anywhere in the state. We inspect the damage in person at your property whenever the claim needs it. Call us for a free claim review.

My insurer already paid, but not enough. Is it too late to hire you?

You can hire us before you file, in the middle of a claim, or after the insurer pays too little. Many of the nearly 7,000 claims we've handled started just like yours. Don't sit on a low check, though: the deadlines to ask for more keep running. Call us now, while you still have time.

My claim was denied. Can a public adjuster still help?

Often, yes. A denial is the insurer's side of the story, not the final word. We read the letter against your policy, inspect the damage and build the proof to turn it around. Call us before you accept a denial.

How long do I have to sue my insurance company in California?

Not long, and the clock can start before you think. California policies set a short deadline to sue, and it can start when the damage could have been noticed. It pauses only while the insurer is deciding a reported claim, and asking them to reconsider a denial doesn't pause it again. Call us now, so your claim is built while there's time. We work together with experienced property damage attorneys.

My home was damaged in a wildfire. Is it too late?

After a declared disaster, California gives homeowners more time to sue, to collect living expenses and to claim depreciation, but every one of those clocks keeps running. Smoke and ash damage is often paid as a quick cleaning when it's hidden inside the house. We document what they skip and claim it before those clocks run out. Call us now.

Should I call my insurance company or a public adjuster first?

Call us before you call them. What you say on that first call can hurt your claim, and most policyholders don't know which words give the insurance company a reason to pay less or deny. We'll help you report it the right way, so call as soon as you find the damage.

Are you lawyers? Do I need a lawyer or a public adjuster?

No. We're licensed public adjusters, not a law firm, and we don't give legal advice. We document the damage, write the estimate and negotiate with your insurance company. If your claim needs a lawyer, we work together with experienced property damage attorneys, and they rely on the file we've built. Call us first, so that file is built right from the start.
