The contractor's edge

Arthur Camayd, partner, is a licensed public adjuster with the SPPA designation, a licensed general contractor, and holds a degree in architecture.

We know how buildings are designed, how they are built, and how to spot the damage most people miss. On complex claims like fires with structural damage or hidden issues, that construction insight and policy knowledge lets us build a stronger claim and challenge a low offer with real authority.

What to know about a Palm Beach insurance claim

Waiting to see what the insurance company does is how good claims run out of time.

Call us first

That first call matters

Many homeowners hurt their claim on that first call to the insurance company. Reporting the claim is part of our job, and we do it the right way. Call us the day you find the damage, and we’ll handle it from there.

Don't settle for less

The first check is rarely the last word

Florida makes insurers say on a partial payment that more may come, and the adjuster they send works for them, not you. We’ve handled nearly 7,000 claims and settled over half a billion dollars. Have us check their estimate line by line before you settle for it.

Don't wait on them

The clock is already running

We hear it all the time. You know the check is too low, so you call the adjuster one more time and wait. Then months go by. In Florida, your deadlines to ask for more and to sue both run from the day the damage happened, not the day they decide, and a slow insurer can run them out. Call now, while you still have options.

Call us before you call your insurance company.

Don’t wait to see what they do. Call today and let a licensed public adjuster review your options while you still have them. Your policy review is free.

Questions about hiring a public adjuster in Palm Beach County

Answers to the questions Palm Beach County callers ask us most.

How much does a public adjuster charge in Palm Beach County?

You pay nothing upfront, and if we don't recover money, you owe us nothing. Our fee is a percentage of what we recover for you, set in writing before you sign, and Florida law caps it. If your insurer paid you before you hired us, Florida doesn't let a public adjuster take a fee on that money, so our fee comes only from the extra money we get you. Call, and we'll walk you through how it works on your claim.

Water came into my condo from the unit above or next door. Can you help?

Yes. Condo claims are a bigger share of our work in Palm Beach County than anywhere else in Florida. When water comes from another unit, the association's policy, your neighbor's policy and your own condo policy can all come into it, and each will point at the others. Florida law puts your flooring, wall and ceiling finishes, cabinets, countertops, fixtures and appliances on your own policy, not the association's. We work out who owes what and build the claim, so call before you accept anyone's no.

Do you handle claims with Universal Property and Citizens?

Yes, all the time. Universal Property is the insurer on about one in four of our Palm Beach County claims, and Citizens on about one in ten. Every insurer's adjuster works for the insurer, so we document the damage, write our own estimate and negotiate for what your policy owes. Call us before you accept their number.

Do you have an office in Palm Beach County? Will someone come to my property?

Our office is in Doral, and we handle claims anywhere in Florida, including West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Lake Worth, Boynton Beach and Wellington. A licensed public adjuster inspects the damage in person at your property whenever the claim needs it, and the first review is free.

Is a slab leak or plumbing leak covered?

Often the water damage is, even when the pipe itself isn't. More than half of our Palm Beach County claims are water and plumbing leaks, the highest share in Florida. Many policies cover the damage a leak caused and the cost of tearing out what's needed to reach the pipe, like a slab or a tile floor. The wording differs by policy, so call us before repairs start, and we'll read yours.

My insurer already paid, but not enough. Is it too late to hire you?

You can hire us before you file, in the middle of a claim, or after the insurer pays too little. Many of the nearly 7,000 claims we've handled started just like yours. Don't sit on a low check, though. Florida's deadlines to reopen a claim or ask for more run from the date of loss, not from the day they paid. Call us now, while you still have time.

Are you lawyers? Do I need a lawyer or a public adjuster?

No. We're licensed public adjusters, not a law firm, and we don't give legal advice. We document the damage, write the estimate and negotiate with your insurance company. Florida no longer makes insurers pay a winning homeowner's lawyer, so a claim has to be built right before anyone talks about court. If yours needs a lawyer, we work together with experienced property damage attorneys, and they rely on the file we've built. Call us first, so that file is built right from the start.

How long do I have to file or reopen a claim in Florida?

Less time than most people think. Florida bars a new or reopened claim that isn't reported within one year of the date of loss, and a supplemental claim after 18 months. For a hurricane, the date of loss is landfall, not the day you notice the damage, and courts expect you to report promptly inside that year. Call us as soon as you find the damage.

Every claim is different.
