What a Public Adjuster Does and How We Work Your Claim

FIGHT FOR YOUR CLAIM

From the first call to the final check, here’s how we fight for your claim. Call us before you call your insurer.

What does a public adjuster do?

A public adjuster is a licensed claim professional you hire to handle your property insurance claim. We review your policy, inspect and document the damage, write the estimate and negotiate with your insurance company until the claim is settled.

Your insurance company already has an adjuster on your claim, and that adjuster works for the insurance company. A public adjuster works for you. Our job is to get you paid what your policy owes, so you aren’t left arguing with their adjuster on your own.

The short version

Who we work for

You, the policyholder, and never the insurance company.

What you pay upfront

Nothing. We’re paid a percentage of the money we recover, and if we recover nothing, you owe nothing.

What we handle

Your policy review, the inspection, the estimate, the paperwork and the negotiation with the insurer.

When to call

As soon as you find the damage, before you call your insurer.

What your coverage means for this damage

How complex the loss is

Public adjuster checking a wall for mold with a flashlight

We provide a FREE property inspection.

Leaving no stone unturned, we focus on the details.

We look for damage that you, your contractor and the insurance company’s adjuster may have missed. Thermal cameras, moisture meters and drones help us find it and map it, and we document the repair methods so the whole scope of work ends up in your claim.

Repair methods and scope

Public adjuster measuring damage for the claim estimate

Once you hire us, we estimate & appraise your whole claim.

You don’t have to chase repair bids on your own.

We do the heavy lifting. Our team builds your claim package: a line-by-line estimate of repair and replacement costs, written in Xactimate, the estimating software the insurance industry uses, and backed by trade vendors and expert reports.

Scope, inventory and valuation

Xactimate estimates

Appraisal of your damages

Insurance settlement check handed to a homeowner

We negotiate and maximize your claim settlement.

We don’t get paid unless you get paid.

We present the claim, answer the insurance company’s questions and push back on a low offer with the evidence. If talks stall, we use the options your policy and your state allow, such as appraisal or mediation, and we work with property damage attorneys when a claim needs one.

Experienced claim negotiators

Appraisal and mediation

We only get paid if you get paid

Steps one and two cost you nothing. Call us, and a licensed adjuster will review your claim.

The tools we use to prove your damage

The insurance company pays for the damage in its file. We use these tools to find hidden damage, measure it and prove it, and we order what your claim needs based on its size.

Thermal imaging

A thermal camera shows wet or damaged areas behind walls and ceilings that you can’t see with the naked eye.

Moisture detection

Moisture meters find water trapped in drywall, floors and framing, so hidden damage gets into the claim.

Drones and aerial reports

Drone photos, aerial views and EagleView roof reports measure and document damage that is hard or unsafe to reach.

Matterport 3D imaging

A 3D scan records the damage as it is and keeps that evidence for as long as your claim takes.

Xactimate estimates

A line-by-line estimate written in Xactimate, the same software insurance companies use to price claims.

Weather data tracking

Storm records show how and where a storm moved, which helps pin down your date of loss and back it up.

Damage that isn’t in the file doesn’t get paid. Call us for a free inspection.

The contractor's edge

Arthur Camayd, partner, is a licensed public adjuster with the SPPA designation, a licensed general contractor, and holds a degree in architecture.

We know how buildings are designed, how they are built, and how to spot the damage most people miss. On complex claims like fires with structural damage or hidden issues, that construction insight and policy knowledge lets us build a stronger claim and challenge a low offer with real authority.

How do public adjusters get paid?

Public adjusters work on a contingency fee. Our fee is a percentage of the insurance money we recover for you, so we only get paid when you do.

You pay nothing upfront. We only get paid on the money we recover for you.

The percentage depends on the size and type of your claim. We agree on it with you and put it in writing before you sign.

Many states cap what a public adjuster can charge, and some set a lower cap after a declared disaster. We follow the rules in your state.

Is a public adjuster worth it?

Your insurance company’s offer comes from its own adjuster. We build the claim from your side, with our own inspection and estimate, and our fee comes out of what we recover. Many of our clients called us after the first check came in low.

Hiring your own adjuster pays for itself.

Public adjuster vs. insurance adjuster

Every property claim has an adjuster. What matters is who that adjuster works for.

Works for the insurance company

Staff adjuster

An employee of your insurance company. They inspect the damage and put a value on your claim for the company.

Works for the insurance company

Independent adjuster

An outside adjuster your insurance company hires, often after a big storm brings more claims than its staff can handle. The insurance company pays them.

Works for you

Public adjuster

Licensed and hired by you. We represent you with the insurance company, and we’re paid from what we recover for you.

The services you deserve when dealing with an insurance claim.

When should you call a public adjuster?

Waiting to see what the insurance company does is how good claims run out of time.

Call us first

That first call matters

Many homeowners hurt their claim on that first call to the insurance company. Call us the day you find the damage, and we’ll help you report it the right way.

Don't settle for less

When the first check comes in low

The adjuster they send works for the insurance company. Many of our clients called us after the first check came in low. Have us check their offer before you accept it.

Don't wait on them

When they deny it or drag it out

Your deadlines keep running, and depending on your state, some start the day of the damage. Talking with their adjuster may not stop it. Call now, while you still have options.

Call us before you call your insurance company.

Don’t wait to see what they do. Call today and let a licensed public adjuster review your options while you still have them. Your policy review is free.

Questions about hiring a public adjuster

Answers to the questions callers ask us most.

What does a public adjuster do?

A public adjuster handles your property insurance claim for you. We review your policy, inspect and document the damage, write the estimate and negotiate with your insurance company until the claim is settled. Their adjuster works for them, and we work for you, so call us for a free review before you accept their number.

How do public adjusters get paid?

Public adjusters are paid a percentage of the insurance money they recover for you, called a contingency fee. You pay us nothing upfront, and we only get paid on the money we recover for you. The percentage depends on the size and type of your claim, and we put it in writing before you sign. Many states cap what a public adjuster can charge, so ask us for the rule where your property is.

What is the difference between a public adjuster and an insurance adjuster?

Who they work for. The staff and independent adjusters on your claim are hired and paid by your insurance company. A public adjuster is licensed, hired by you and paid from what we recover, so we work only for you. Call us before you rely on their estimate.

Is a public adjuster worth it?

Yes. A claim with a public adjuster on it does better. We build it from your side with our own inspection and estimate, and we only get paid on the money we recover for you. Call us for a free review.

When should I hire a public adjuster? Is it too late if my claim was paid or denied?

The best time is before you report the damage, because what you say on that first call can hurt your claim, and we'll help you report it right. But you can hire us in the middle of a claim too, or after the insurer pays too little or denies it. Many of our claims start as an underpaid claim that we reopen with our own inspection and estimate. Your deadlines keep running, so call us before you accept their decision.

Will my insurance company drop me if I hire a public adjuster?

Hiring a public adjuster doesn't change your policy. Your insurance company owes you the same duties on the claim whether you handle it yourself or hire us, and it deals with us on your behalf. If you're worried about your policy, call us and we'll talk it through before you decide.

Do I need a lawyer or a public adjuster?

We're licensed public adjusters, not a law firm, so we don't give legal advice or represent you in court. We document the damage, write the estimate and negotiate with your insurer, and most claims settle without a lawsuit. If yours needs an attorney, we work together with experienced property damage attorneys, and they rely on the claim file we've built.

Where do you handle claims?

Our public adjusters are licensed in many states, and we inspect the damage in person at your property whenever the claim needs it. Call us, and we'll tell you whether we can take your claim.

Every claim is different.

Call and a licensed adjuster will go over your claim with you. The review is free.
